Георги Спасов

Завършва Музикалното училище в Русе и ДМА – София . Специализира при А. Николе и К.Х. Цьолер в Залцбург и при Ж.П. Рампал и А.Марион в Парижката консерватория. Участва в майсторски класове на Рампал в Ница. Лауреат е на V и VІ общобългарско състезание за певци и инструменталисти и на Международния конкурс за флейтисти в Белград. През 1986 е отличен със Златна лира на Съюза на музикалните дейци в България, през 2016 – с наградата Емил Чакъров, а през 2018 – с най-престижната награда на СМТД -„Кристално огърлие” за високи постижения в областта на музикалното изкуството.
В продължение на 35 години е първи солист–флейтист на Софийска филхармония. Бил е първи флейтист на оркестъра на Академия Киджана – Италия, на оркестър Симфониета и Фестивалния оркестър на Емил Чакъров. Изключително успешна е концертната му дейност като камерен изпълнител, както и в ансамблите Колегиум за камерна музика и Академичен духов квинтет.
Репертоарът му включва произведения от всички стилове и епохи. Гастролира в Англия, САЩ, Русия, Гърция, Турция, Куба, Япония, Южна Корея, Чехия, Словакия, Полша, Германия, Франция, Италия и др.
Многобройни са творческите му контакти с музиканти от класата на Жан-Пиер Рампал, Ален Марион, Аурел Николе, Карлхайнц Цьолер, Петер-Лукас Граф, Емануел Паю, Кристиян Ларде, Томас Йенсен, Ирена Графенауер, Филип Бернолд, Волфганг Шулц, Дитер Флури, Франко Ферара, Валерий Гергиев, Илья Мусин, Джанкарло Джалмети, сър Невил Маринър.
Води съвместни майсторски класове и участва в концерти с проф. Андраш Адорян, Филип Пиерло, Давиде Формидзано, Жан-Клод Жерар, Патрик Галоа, Йанг Ми, Тонг Ю, Йанг Хае-Су, както и с първите кларинетисти на Парижката опера и Лондонския симфоничен оркестър Филип Купер и Андрю Маринър.
Притежава множество записи за БНР, БНТ, Френското, Сръбското и Унгарско радио и телевизия. Има издадени компактдискове за наши и чужди звукозаписни компании.
Двукратно участва в световния флейтов симпозиум в Ница, посещава флейтовите фестивали в Берлин, Мюнхен, Висбаден, Рим и др. През 1990 е член на международното жури на конкурса Валентино Буки в Рим .
Води майсторски класове в България, Япония, Куба, Гърция, Южна Корея, Турция, Македония, Сърбия, Русия и др.
Многобройни са участията му като член и председател на жури на международни конкурси у нас и в чужбина.
В момента е професор по флейта в НМА – София, където преподава вече 49 години.

Georgy Spassov

Georgy Spassov studied at Professor Vesselin Stoyanov National School of Arts – Ruse, and graduated from the National Academy of Music – Sofia. He specialised with A. Nicolet and K.H. Zoeller in Salzburg and with J.P. Rampal and A. Marion at Paris Conservatory. He attended the master classes directed by Rampal in Nice. Spassov is First-Prize winner at the Vth and VIth editions of the National Competition for Singers and Instrumentalists and the Belgrade International Flute Competition. In 1986 he was awarded the Golden Lyre Prize of the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers. In 2016 he received the Emil Chakarov Prize and in 2018 – the most prestigious award of the UBMD – the Crystal Necklace Prize, for outstanding artistic achievements in the music field.
For 35 years Georgy Spassov has been the Principal Flutist of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also been Principal Flutist of the Chigiana Academy Orchestra – Italy, the Sinfonietta Orchestra and the Festival Orchestra conducted by Emil Chakarov. He has had a successful career both as a chamber music performer and a member of the Chamber Music Collegium and the Bulgarian Academic Wind Quintet.
His repertoire includes works from different genres and époques. He has performed in England, the USA, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Cuba, Japan, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, France and Italy among others.
Georgy Spassov has worked with great musicians such as Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion, Aurèle Nicolet, Karlheinz Zöller, Peter-Lukas Graf, Emmanuel Pahud, Christian Lardé, Thomas Jensen, Irena Grafenauer, Philippe Bernold, Wolfgang Schulz, Dieter Flury, Franco Ferrara, Valery Gergiev, Ilya Musin and Sir Neville Marriner.
He has given master classes and played together with Andras Adorjan, Philippe Pierlot, Davide Formisano, Jean-Claude Gérard, Patrick Gallois, Yang Mi, Yang Hae-Su and the principal clarinetists of the Paris Opera and the London Symphony Orchestra – Philippe Cuper and Andrew Marriner.
He has recorded many times for the Bulgarian National Radio and TV, the French, the Serbian, the Hungarian Radio and TV etc. He has an impressive discography of CDs released by Bulgarian and foreign record companies.
Spassov has participated twice in the World Flute Symposium in Nice and has attended the flute festivals in Berlin, Munich, Wiesbaden, Rome and many others. In 1990 he was a jury member at Valentino Bucchi Competition in Rome. He has given master classes in Bulgaria, Japan, Cuba, Greece, South Korea, Turkey, Macedonia, Serbia and Russia among others.
He has been a member or chairman of juries at a great number of international competitions held in Bulgaria and abroad.
Currently Georgy Spassov is a Professor of Flute at Sofia National Academy of Music where he has been teaching for 47 years.
